Beetroot pulav
BEETROOT PULAO
INGREDIENTS
- Beetroot grated – 1 cup
- Cooked or leftover rice – 2 or 3 cup
- Onion finely chopped – 1
- Green chilli chopped – 2
- Ginger + garlic – 1 tsp
- Oil + ghee – 1 tbsp
- Garam masala few – 1 tsp jeera + 1 bay leaf + small cinnamon piece + 1 cardamom + 1 clove + 1 star anise .
- salt to taste
- Finely chopped coriander for garnish
PREPARATION
Grate the beetroot .
METHOD
Heat oil + ghee ,add whole garam masala and let it crackle.[never burn garam masala]
Add onion + green chilli and fry till translucent.
Add ginger garlic paste and fry till raw smell leaves.
Lower the flame.
Add the beet root and stir fry for 2 mins .[don’t overcook ]
Adjust salt .
Add the cooked rice and mix well.
Cover and cook for 1 min.
Once the rice gets completely coated with the masalas ,off the flame .
Garnish with coriander leaves.
Serve with any side dish .
NOTES
- Such recipes are good for kids who are fussy about eating veges, you can try with other veges also.Refer to my other rice recipes.
- You can cook in other styles also like – fried rice,phodni bhaat,lemon rice etc …you just have to add beetroot.
- You can add other veges together like peas ,potato,beans ,corn etc
- You can aslo give a variation by adding chole masala or pav bhaji masala or sambar pwdr or biryani masala pwdr instead of garam masala pwdr
- While tempering you can add few whole garam masala
- I have used cooked rice,you can cook it together.
