Piping gel for cake
PIPING GEL FOR CAKE
METHOD – 1
INGREDIENTS
- Corn syrup – ¼ cup
- Corn starch – 1 tbsp [ corn flour]
- Cold water – ¼ cup
- Colourless essence – few drops [ optional ]
- Food colour – 1 or 2 drops
PREPARATION
Mix the corn syrup + corn starch + water in a microwave bowl and mix very well.
Microwave for 1 ½ mis to 2 mins,by stirring inbetween.
Cook till transparent and clear.
Allow it to cool .
Add essence and colour and mix well.
Piping gel ready to use .
NOTES
- You get ready made piping gel- take 1 tbsp of piping add ½ tbsp [or less if u want thick gel ] of water + colour ,mix well and pour over the icing .
METHOD 2
INGREDIENTS
- Sugar – ½ cup
- Cornflour/starch – 1 tbsp
- Lemon juice- ¼ cup
- Water – ¼ cup
PREPARATION
Mix the sugar + cornstarch in a small pan .
Gradually add the juice + water and mix well till no lumps are there.
Stir and cook over medium flame flame till it starts boiling and thickens.
Once it becomes thick and clear ,off the flame .
Allow it cool.
Store it in airtight container in fridge .Can use upto 1 mnth.
Whenever required add desired colour and use it.
You can either pour it or use a piping bag with thin whole to write or fill .
