Honey chilli sesame potatoes
HONEY CHILLI SESAME POTATOES
INGREDIENTS
- Potato – 2 big
- Garlic paste / minced – 2 cloves
- Red chilli pwdr – 1 tsp
- Tomato ketchup – 2 tsp
- Cornflour – 2 tbsp
- Maida – 1 tbsp
- Oil to deep fry
- Finely chopped /minced garlic – 2 tsp
- Olive oil / oil – 1 tbsp
- Sauce mixture – 1 tbsp of tomato ketchup + 2 tsp of red chilli sauce + 1 tsp soya sauce + ½ tsp vinegar [optional ] + 1 tbsp of water
- Honey – 1 ½ tbsp or more or as per taste
- White sesame [ til ] – 1 tbsp
- Finely chopped spring onion greens / coriander leaves for garnish
PREPARATION
- Peel the potatoes and cut it length wise like French fries and soak it in cold water for sometime. Drain the excess water and dry it with a kitchen towel .
- Mix the potatoes + chilli pwdr +cornflour + rice flour + salt + garlic paste + tomato ketchup + salt and mix well .
- Mix all the sauces well and keep aside .
- dry roast the sesame seeds and keep aside .
METHOD
Deep fry the potatoes in small batches till golden.
Remove on a absorbent paper .
Heat ½ tbsp oil in another pan .
Add the chopped ginger + garlic and fry .[colour should not change ]
Immediately add the sauce mixture and mix well.
Adjust salt .
Off the flame and add honey and mix well .
Add the fried potatoes and mix [toss it ] well till all the potatoes are coated with the sauce .
Finally garnish with spring onion greens .
Sprinkle the roasted white sesame all over.
Serve hot .
NOTES
- You can also use frozen French fries . [McCain ]
- As per ayurveda , we should not cook honey .
- You can also added cornflour mixture [ 1 tbsp cornflour + ¼ cup water ] after adding the sauces .
- Adjust sauces as per your taste.
- Veges like onion and capsicum can be also added.
- You can add little dark orange food [tandoori colour ] colour to the potatoes for more bright colour.
- You can chop the potato in wedges shape or cubes also.
- You can try this recipe with chicken /paneer /nuggets etc
- Don’t reduce chilli sauce as we are also adding honey.
