APPLE HALWA

Apple halwa is an easy and delicious halwa or apple pudding that is made with apples.
Use apples which are sweet. You can use any variety of apples that are sweet. Avoid green apples or apple varieties which are tangy . If you use tart or tangy apples, then the halwa has a sweet-sour taste and you may also need to add more sugar.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 ½ cups grated apple
- 1 ½ tbsp ghee
- 2 tbsp crumbled mava / milk powder
- ¾ milk
- 3 or 4 tbsp or as per taste sugar [sweeter the apples lesser the sugar ]
- 3 or 4 tbsp chopped walnut
- ½ tsp cardamom podwer
METHOD
Wash the apples and peel them.
Grate it or run them into a food processor till the apples are well grind.
Heat ghee in a thick bottom pan on medium heat.
Once hot, add the grated apples.
Stir continuously and cook for 5 to 6 mins
Cook the apples till all the water is evaporated.
Now add mava / milk poder , stir and cook for 2 mins.
add milk and give a nice mix .
stir and cook for 5 to 6 mins
add sugar + walnut and mix well .
Add cardamom powder and mix .
stir and again cook for 5 mins
As the sugar melts, the halwa will again become loose.
Cook till all water evaporates.
Garnish with sliced almonds .
Serve apple halwa hot or warm garnished with some chopped nuts.
NOTE
- Instead of cardamom powder we can use 1 or 2 drops of vanilla essence or cinnamon pwdr or nutmeg pwdr
- Instead of sugar sweeteners like palm sugar, coconut sugar, jaggery, maple syrup can also be added. If adding honey , add while serving .Don’t add honey and cook as honey becomes toxic on heating.
