BREAD MALAI ROLL
Bread Malai Roll is an Indian sweet where white bread slices are stuffed with mava and then dunked in flavourful reduced milk. Bread malai Rasmalai is an easy to make, instant recipe. Even though its taste and texture cannot be compared with the rasgulla, it can satisfy our sweet cravings quickly. It takes very less time to prepare. Also it is an yummy sweet recipe that can be prepared using leftover bread slices. Kids would love it for sure. This bread malai rasmalai tastes the best when served chilled.
FOR RAS
INGREDIENTS
- 1 ltr full fat milk
- Saffron few strands dissolved in 1 tbsp milk
- Condensed milk – 200 ml
- 1/2 tsp rose water
- 1/2 tsp cardamom pwdr
- 2 tbsp thinly sliced pista
- 2 tbsp thinly sliced badam
- 1 or 2 drops of yellow food colour [ optional ]
- 1 tsp vanilla custard pwdr mixed well with 2 tbsp milk
- Bread slices – 6 or 7
METHOD
Heat 1 litre full fat milk in a heavy bottom pan.
Add saffron and cook on medium heat for 7 to 8 mins.
Keep stirring in between .
Add 200 ml condensed milk .
Add 1/2 tsp rose water + 1/2 tsp cardamom powder thinly sliced almonds + 2 tbsp pista and mix well.
Off the flame and immediately add 1 tsp custard + 2 tbsp milk and mix well.
Add colour if you want .
Bring it to room temperature and refrigerate till chilled .
FOR INSTANT MAVA
- Ghee or unsalted butter – 1 tbsp
- Milk pwdr – ½ cup
- Milk – 2 or 3 tbsp
- Finely chopped mix dry fruits – 2 tbsp
METHOD
Take all ingredients in a pan and mix well.
Now put on low flame.
Stir and cook on low flame ,till the mixture starts leaving the pan and thickens.
add the dry fruits and give a nice mix .
Allow it to cool and use .

HOW TO ASSEMBLE
Trim the edges of bread slice .
Roll and make the bread thin ,using rolling pin / belan .
stuff it with mava as shown in video .
Roll into cylindrical shape.
Either serve it whole or slice into small portions .
Take a serving bowl ,pour little chilled ras .
Place the bread malai roll.
Pour over more ras .
Let it soak for just 40 to 60 seconds .[ not more ]
Garnish with dry fruits
Serve immediately .
Delicious easy bread malai roll ready in minutes. Serve it always cold!
NOTE
- I have used condensed milk ,you can replace it with 50 grms sugar .
- Adding custard pwdr gives a nice consistency to the ras and aslo adds to the flavour.
- hill the rabri until serving time. Also do not pre-soak bread, just add it while serving.
- You can also 1 tbsp milk powder for thickness and flavour.
- instead of custard pwdr we can use milk powder .
