How to make thalipeeth multigrain flour at home
THALIPEETH BHAJNI / HOMEMADE THALIPEETH FLOUR / MULTIGRAIN FLOUR MIX
The multi-grain flour mix used for making Thalipeeth is called Thalipeeth Bhajani
INGREDIENTS
- Raw rice – 2 cup
- Chana dal – 1
- Jawar – ½ cup
- Bajra – ½ cup
- Moong dal -1/2 cup
- Urad dal- ½ cup
- Coriander seeds – ½ cup
- Jeera – 2 tbsp

Heat a thick bottom pan on medium flame.
Now add each ingredient one by one and roast it separately till aromatic.
Don’t burn any ingredients.
Allow to cool.
Grind it into fine powder.
Texture of the flour should not be very fine or coarse. It should be similar to chapati wheat flour texture .
Store in airtight containers .
NOTES
- Same flour can be used for making instant dosa ,just make a thin batter by adding water and salt .
- Also same flour can be used in alu vadi ,kothimbir vadi ,crackers ,any pakodas etc.
- The quantity of ingredients can be taken as per your choice.
- Some add masoor / toor /green moong /soya dal /matki /ragi etc
- You can also add spice of your choice like methi dana /ajwain /saunf etc
- Some also add dry red chilli .
HOW TO MAKE THALIPEETH
INGREDIENTS
- Bhajani flour – 1 cup
- Finely chopped onion – ½ cup
- Grated cucumber / bottle gourd /carrot – 1/2 cup [optional ]
- Finely chopped coriander leaves – ¼ cup
- Chilli pwdr – ¼ tsp
- Turmeric pwdr – ¼ tsp
- Coarsely grounded peanuts – 2 tbsp
- Curd – 2 tbsp
- Ginger garlic paste – ½ tsp optional
- Jeera pwdr – ¼ tsp
- Garam masala – ¼ tsp
- Chaat masala – ¼ tsp
- Jaggery pwdr – 1 tsp
- Tamarind /lemon juice – 2 tsp
- Sesame seeds – 1 tbsp
- Warm water for kneading
- Salt as per taste
- Oil or ghee to roast the thalipeeth
METHOD
Mix all the above ingredients except oil and knead it into a soft dough by adding water .
Divide the dough and make small balls .
Pat each ball with wet hands and flatten it into thin discs .
***You can’t roll using rolling pin as the dough will be sticky .
Heat a tava and spread little oil .
Place the thalipeeth on the hot tava .
Cover it with a lid and cook on each side for 2 -3 minutes by drizzling oil on all sides.
Fry on both sides till golden and crispy.
Serve hot with butter ,curd , chilli pickle, groundnut chutney pwdr , sauce ,green chutney etc .
VARIATIONS
- Adding grated veges gives moisture to the dough and helps the thalipeeth to cook with less oil.
- For oil free thalipeeth ,I used waffle maker . Also you can bake it at 180*C for 12 – 15 mins .
