KARAM CHUTTALU / JANTHIKALU RECIPE
KARAM CHUTTALU / ANDHRA JANTHIKALU SNACK RECIPE

Karam Chuttalu is a traditional Andhra savory snack recipe.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup besan flour
- 2 cup rice flour
- Oil for deep frying
- 2 tbsp hot oil/ ghee for dough
- 1 tbsp ajwain
- Salt
- 1 or 2 tsp or as per taste kashmiri red chilli Powder
- 2 tbsp White Sesame Seeds
- 1/4 tsp Asafoetida
- Chakli press
METHOD
Mix with rice flour + ajwain + salt + chilli powder + sesame seeds + asafoetida + 1 tbsp oil.
Add water to make a stiff and soft dough by adding required water .
Cover and keep it aside.
Heat enough oil in a pan, take murukku mould plate then place it in a muruku press.
Fill the prepared dough in a muruku press .
Just press out or squeeze over the ladle and slide it into the hot oil . –You can directly press the chaklis in the hot oil .
Deep fry till crisp on medium hot oil.
Flip over and fry another side.
Once it ready , it stops bubbling or the oil sound disappears , drain and remove on absorbent paper.
Leave it for few minutes at room temperature . Then store in an airtight container when it cools down completely .
These will stay good if stored in an air tight container.
