ORANGE COCONUT MODAK /NO COOK MODAK RECIPE

Modak is specially made on Ganesh Chaturthi/ Vinayak Chaturthi which is a very popular festival in India. Different varieties of sweets and Naivaidhyams are made during Ganapati Pooja.

ORANGE COCONUT MODAK / NO COOK RECIPE

Sweet Modaks of different varieties are made and offered to Lord Ganesh. There are many versions, flavours and variety of making modaks – the one I am sharing today is an easy and quick method of making coconut modak.

The dough is made of desiccated coconut and condensed milk . I have used a modak mould, but you can shape them as a ball and make laddoo and roll them in some desiccated coconut.

Easy coconut modak recipe for Ganesh Chaturthi. It is sweet , chewy , full of flavour – made with just 2 ingredients and ready in less than 10 mins .

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup Desiccated coconut
  • ¼  cup Condensed milk
  • 1 or 2 drop of  Orange essence
  • 1 drop Orange food colour
  • 1 tsp Ghee for greasing
  • 1 tsp Chopped almonds and pistachios [ optional ]

METHOD

Take desiccated coconut + condensed milk  + food colour + essence + dry fruits in a bowl.

Mix really well and when you press a small portion into a ball it should come together. If not then add little milk.

Grease the mould using ghee.

 Keep the mould close and fill the mixture tightly by pressing it from the bottom hole.

Open the mould and unmould the modak carefully.

Instead of using mould ,  shape into a ladoo by making a tight, smooth ball.

Store in jar or refrigerate for upto 4 -5 days.

VARIATIONS:

  • CHOCOLATE  STUFFING [ use choclate syrup + desiccated coconut ] – goes well with orange flavour.
  • GULKAND / ROSE STUFFING – stuff them by adding a teaspoon of gulkand (rose petals jam) in the center.

NOTE

Instead of orange flavour  , we ca use any essence or colour like pista / rose etc
