INGREDIENTS

  • Paneer – 200gms[cubed]
  • onion – 1 large chopped
  • Tomato – 2 medium [ not sour ]
  • Chilly powder – 1 tsp [ as per taste]
  • Coriander powder – 2 tsp
  • turmeric pwdr – ¼ tspn
  • Cashew – 10 nos
  • Butter ½ tablespoons + 1 tbsp oil
  • Ginger garlic paste – 2 tsp
  • KItchen king masala – 1 tsp OR Garam masala powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Amul fresh cream – 1/4 cup
  • Tomato ketchup –  2 tsp
  • Sugar – 1/2 tspn
  • Salt as per taste
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves to garnish
  • Kasoori methi pwdr -1 tsp [optional]

METHOD

Heat 1 tbsp butter + 1/2 tbsp oil in a pan.

Add onion and fry till translucent.

Add ginger garlic paste and fry till raw smell leaves.

Add chilli pwdr + turmeric pwdr + coriander pwdr + garam masala.

Add cashew and fry for few seconds.

Then add tomato ketchup ,salt and sugar.

Add 2 ½ cup water. [water as per the consistency]

Cover it and cook till the tomatoes become soft.

Remove from flame and allow it to completely cool.

Grind or blend it into a fine paste.

Strain it to get a nice smooth sauce.[only the tomato skin will remain as a residue as shown in the pic]

In another pan heat 1 tbsp butter + ½  tbsp oil.

Pour the sauce.

Boil it for 2-3 minutes.

Now add paneer cubes. [you can either add plain paneer or fried paneer]

Sprinkle kasoori methi pwdr [optional]

Cook for 2 minutes on low flame.

Add cream and mix well.

Butter Paneer is ready.

Garnish it with coriander leaves or butter or drizzle few drops of fresh cream.

You can also garnish with grated paneer.

Serve it hot with naan or jeera rice.

NOTE – For paneer tikka masala instead of adding plain paneer, first make paneer tikka and then add it.

VARIATION [another way of making the same recipe]

INGREDIENTS

  • Onion – 1 big
  • Tomatoes – 3 [not sour]
  • Ginger & garlic paste – 2 tsp
  • Oil + ghee – 2 tbsp
  • Red chilli pwdr – 1 tsp
  • Coriander pwdr – 2 tsp
  • Kitchen king masala – 1 tsp OR Garam masala pwdr – 1/2 tsp
  • Turmeric pwdr – 1/4 tsp
  • Cashew nut paste – 1 1/2 tbsp [soak in hot water for some time and grind]
  • Fresh cream – 2 tbsp
  • Salt as per taste
  • Ketchup – 2 tsp
  • Sugar – 1/2 tsp
  • wam water – as per the consistency you want

METHOD

Make fine paste of onion + tomato + ginger + garlic.

Heat oil +butter in thick pan add the paste.

Fry till oil separates.

Add chilli, turmeric, garam masala and coriander powder and fry till raw smell leaves..

Add ketchupe + sugar and salt.

Add the cashew nut paste and fry.

Add warm water and let it boil.[as per the consistency you want]

Add the fresh cream and keep stirring.

Cook for 3-4 mins.

Add the paneer cubes.

Sprinkle the kasoori methi powder.

Simmer for a minute.

Turn off the flame.
