Cake pops
CAKE POPS
INGREDIENTS
- Chocolate cake or any cake – 100 gms
- Condensed milk – 2 or 2 ½ tbsp
- Lollipop sticks few
- Oil – 2 ½ tsp or 3 tsp [ no smell ]
- Dark chocolate – 100gms [chopped into small bits]
- Sprinklers for decorating
- Cake paper cups – few
PREPARATION.
- Crumble the cake with clean hands. Now slowly add the condensed milk little by little and start mixing it.
- Mix till you are able to form balls . [be careful while adding the condensed milk it should not become goey ]
- Divide the dough into equal portions. [ small lemon size]
- Roll each portions into smooth balls and refrigerate for 2 to 3 hours.
METHOD
Take the chopped chocolate in a dry bowl.
Now take a bowl with water .[ smaller than the chocolate bowl ]
Boil the water , place the chocolate bowl on top of the water bowl.
**** Remember the chocolate should not come in contact with water or water vapour. the boiling water should not touch the chocolate pan.
Keep stirring till the chocolate melts completely, add in the oil and mix well .
Dip 1 lollipop stick in the melted chocolate [to get grip ] and gently insert it in the cake balls upto halfway . [don’t pierce it till the end ]
Repeat the procedure with all.
Take each lollipop and swirl it in the chocolate sauce till it is coated well on all sides.
Immediately sprinkle the decoratives over it .you have to be quick as the chocolate hardens up fast.
Now place the lollipop in a standing postion to dry up.
I used my strainer with big holes ,you can use sponge or anything else.
Once done refrigerate for sometime and serve.
***** Point to note –
- While covering any ingredients like fruits [strawberry ] or biscuit or pops with chocolate, we need to add oil to the chocolate. Oil helps to create a smoother and manageable consistency .It helps in even coating .
- The ratio is – for 50 gms chocolate we add 1 tsp oil .
- Do not use butter or margarine as it contains water and chocolate when comes in contact with water its melting process is ruined .
NOTES
- Shelf life 1 week ,if refrigerated.
- Instead of lollipops ,you can make balls and serve it in cake paper cups.
- Once the chocolate dries up you can also drizzle melted white chocolate over it .
- Instead of condensed milk ,you can use butter or butter cream frosting .
- The chocolate mixture should not be of dry or of goey texture.
- If you are making double the quantity ,then melt chocolate in small batches.
- Instead of cake you can use coconut balls.
- I did not have lollipop sticks so I used skewer sticks.
- U can use leftover cakes or broken cakes.
- Use any cooking oil which does not have any smell or flavour.
- Kids luv this.
