Custard powder halwa
CUSTARD POWDER HALWA RECIPE
Custard powder halwa is an easy and simple sweet prepared from custard powder and with other basic ingredients like sugar and ghee . It is an ideal festival sweet recipe which can be enjoyed with your friends and family especially during diwali celebrations.
This recipe is almost very similar to my previous recipe of karachi or cornflour halwa .. THese halwas are translucent and jelly like which makes colourful and attractive. perhaps kids would definitely love custard powder halwa recipe.
INGREDIENTS
- Vanilla flavoured Custard Powder – 1/2 cup
- Sugar – 1 and 1/2 cups
- Water – 2 cups
- Ghee – 2 tbsp…
- Roasted chopped Cashew – 7 or 8 nos.
- Cardamom Powder – tiny pinch
- Ghee, for greasing the plate.
METHOD
In a bowl, mix together the custard powder, sugar and water.
Ensure that no lumps are formed while making this custard powder mixture.
Heat a non-stick pan, and on medium heat, add the custard powder mixture, stir it continuously till it becomes thick.
Now add the ghee and mix it thoroughly till the custard powder mixture becomes transparent and jelly like.
Add the chopped roasted cashew nuts and the powdered cardamom.
Mix well so that they are evenly distributed.
Switch off the flame.
Transfer the mixture on the greased plate and allow it to cool.
Cut the halwa into desired shapes .
It took me just 10 minutes.
NOTES-
- Have it moderately as corn flour can cause digestion problem to them . Also comparatively it contains high sugar content ..
- We can add a pinch of any food colour . I did not add and kept it natural .
- We can even add any essence of your choice.
- The halwa can be served hot or cold .
- Keeps well for 5 days if refrigerated.
- Use a nonstick pan for best results.
- Chop the cashews into small bits so that while cutting you will get smooth pieces.
