Easy chicken recipe

                                                                         SIMPLE CHICKEN GRAVY

INGREDIENTS

  • Chicken – 500gms
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Whole garam masala – 1 of each [clove, cardamom, cinnamom, bay leaf]
  • Onion – 1
  • Tomato – 2
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli pwdr – 1 ½  tsp or as per taste
  • Coriander pwdr – 2 tsp
  • Turmeric – ¼ tsp
  • Garam masala – 3/4 tsp
  • Salt as per taste
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves for garnish

PREPARATION

Clean ,wash, rinse and chop the chicken into small pieces.

SIMPLE CHICKEN RECIPE

METHOD

Heat oil in a pan , add the whole garam masala and let it splutter. [don’t burn it ]

Add onion and fry till brown.

Add ginger garlic paste , fry till raw smell leaves.

Add tomatoes + salt and let it sweat.

Add red chilli pwdr , coriander pwdr , garam masala pwdr , turmeric pwdr and fry till raw smell leaves.

Add the chicken and mix well.

Cover it and cook for 2 mins till it leaves water.

Again mix well, add 1 cup water and cook on medium flame till it is cooked.

Mix well and add the coriander leaves.

Serve with rice or chappati or roti.

NOTES

  1. Chicken gravy tastes better when added with bones.
  2. Adding salt with tomatoes helps the tomatoes to sweat fast.
  3. For soft chicken [not rubbery ] use the full thigh of the chicken.
  4. Soak the chicken or any meat in water to remove the excess blood which can give a meaty smell to the recipe.
  5. Towards the end we can add coconut paste or coconut milk or curd or cashew paste .
  6. You can add kasoori methi pwdr for more flavour.
  7. Water quantity depends on the consistency you want.
  8. Add masalas as per your taste.
  9. You can add big cubes of potato together with chicken.
  10. You can also grind the onion + tomato and ginger garlic paste
  11. This gravy goes well with pav or bread.
