INDORI POHA / STEAMED POHA / SOFT POHA

INDORI POHA – are very soft in texture . It also remains soft after a long time . It has sweet ,spicy and tangy taste . They are served in Indore with jalebi . In this recipe we steam the poha . Jeeravan Masala gives it a very unique taste. Fennel seeds add yet another flavour .

INGREDIENTS

  • Poha – 2 cup
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Peanut – ¼ cup
  • Mustard seeds – 1tsp
  • Onion finely chopped – 1
  • Green chilli – 4
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Fennel seeds – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric – ¼ tsp sugar – 2 or 3 tsp
  • Salt to Taste
  • Lemon juice
  • Jeeravan pwdr – 1 tsp [ recipe in video ]
  • Pomegranate
  • Finely chopped onion
  • Any sev
  • Coriander Leaves
  • Boondi
  • NOTE – we can also add boiled potatoes cubes

The thickness of poha  vary from brand to brand so their soaking time also differs . Indori Poha Jalebi is a very popular combination in Madhya Pradesh..
