Pepper idli
PEPPER IDLI
INGREDIENTS
- Mini idlis – 15 or 20
- Onion chopped – 1
- Capsicum chopped – ½
- Freshly grounded pepper pwdr – 1 ½ tsp
- Garam masala – ½ tsp
- Oil – 1 tbsp [ I used oive oil ]
- Finely chopped garlic – 1 tbsp
- Curry leaves few
- Salt to taste
- Finely chopped coriander leaves or spring onion greens for garnish
METHOD
Heat oil in a pan, add garlic and fry for few seconds. [ Colour should not change much and it should not get burnt ]
Add curry leaves + onion and fry till light brown .
Add capsicum and fry for few seconds. [ it should be crunchy ]
Add pepper pwdr + salt + garam masala , mix well and fry for few seconds.
Add the mini idlis, sprinkle few drops of water and mix well.
Toss the idli till is well coated with the masalas.
Off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves .
NOTES
- You can also add ½ tomato. Remove the pulpy portion. Also it should not get mushy ,just stir fry.
- You can also add veges like green peas, carrot ,cabbage
- If you don’t have mini idli mould then use the regular idlis and chop it into small pieces.
- I have used leftover idlis.
- Sprinkle water if required or else don’t. [ few drops only ]
- Don’t reduce the pepper pwdr.
- You can add green chilli ,in that case reduce pepper pwdr .
- Use freshly grounded black p\epper.You can also roast it .
