Masala prawns
MASALA PRAWNS
Eating prawns not only tickles your taste buds but they also are healthy for your body.
Prawns are a rich source of selenium, one of the most effective antioxidants at maintaining healthy cells. They also contain high levels of Zinc, which is important to develop a healthy immune system. Eating prawns helps build strong bones because they contain phosphorous, copper and magnesium.
INGREDIENTS
- Prawns – 500 grms [ 20 nos]
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Curry leaves – few
- Onion finely chopped – 1 big
- Slit green chilli – 1
- Ginger garlic paste – 2 tsp
- Tomato finely chopped – 2
- Red chilli powder – 11/2 tsp or as per taste
- Pepper pwdr – ¼ tsp
- Turmeric – ¼ tsp
- Coriander pwder – 2 tsp
- Garam masala pwdr – ¼ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Coriander leaves for garnish
PREPARATION
Wash, peel, clean and devein the prawns.
Add little turmeric + chilli pwdr mix well and keep aside for 15 to 20 mins.
METHOD
Heat oil in a pan .
Add onion + chilli + curry leaves and stir fry till translucent.
Add ginger garlic paste and stir fry till raw smell leaves .
Lower the flame and add all the dry masala pwdrs and stir fry for few seconds.
Add tomatoes = salt and stir fry till tomatoes soften .
Add the prawns and mix well.
Stir fry for 2 min.
Add 3 or 4 tbsp water and mix well,
Cover and cook.
Cook the prawns for 7 – 8 minutes in the masala or till they are done. Make sure not to over-cook the prawns.
Turn off the heat.
Garnish the Prawn Masala with fresh coriander.
Drizzle few drops of lemon juice. Serve hot with any Indian bread or rice.
