Mutton roast recipe
SPICY MUTTON ROAST RECIPE
STEP – 1
INGREDIENTS
- Mutton – 500 gms
- Onion chopped– 1 big
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
- Garam masala – ¼ tsp
- Chilli pwdr – 1/2 tsp
- Turmeric pwdr – ¼ tsp
- Salt – as per taste
PREPARATION – STEP 1
- Chop the mutton into small pieces.
- Add all the above ingredients to it and mix well.
- Keep it for marination in fridge for minimum 1 hr or more.
- Pressure cook till the mutton is cooked well and becomes soft. [4 to 5 whistles]
STEP – 2
INGREDIENTS
- Oil – 1 tbsp
- Onion – 1 thinly chopped
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
- Curry leaves – few sprig
- Chilli pwdr – 1 tsp
- Garam masala – 1/2tsp
- Coriander pwdr – 2 tsp
- Turmeric pwdr – 1/4 tsp
- Pepper pwdr – ¼ tsp
- Salt – as per taste
- Fried potato cubes [optional]
METHOD
Heat oil in a pan , add the onion + curry leaves and fry till golden brown in colour.
Add ginger garlic paste and fry till raw smell leaves .
Make the flame low and add all the other ingredients chilli pwdr + garam masala + turmeric pwdr + coriander pwdr + pepper pwdr + salt and fry it well.
Add the cooked mutton and cook for 5 minutes.
Add the fried potatoesand mix well.
Cook till all the water completely dries up.
Mutton roast is ready to serve.
If you don’t want a dry consistency then don’t let all the water to evaporate.
I love to eat with pav.
NOTES.
- You can also add tomatoes.
- Potatoes are optional,you can even add boiled potatoes.
- Use South Indian shallots for more taste.
- You can garnish with fried coconut bits.
- The meat has to be cooked well.
- Mutton is considered to be a good source of zinc and iron that can be easily absorbed by human body. Iron helps in formation of red blood cells and zinc for growth and development of healthy immune system.
- Don’t buy the meat of an old goat. [it will look wrinkled and rough]
- Buy meat of a young goat that looks pink and has a firm texture.
- The same recipe can be used for pork and chicken.
