BUTTER MURUKKU

Murukku is the south indian variation of north indian chakli. Murukku recipes usually contain rice flour and urad dal flour. There are many easy murukku recipes like potato murukku, peanut murukku, cashew murukku, mullu murukku, pottukadalai murukku, rava murukku recipes. These savory snacks are very easy to make.

Butter murukku recipe .

Butter Murukku is a crispy and crunchy Indian snack, generally prepared on festive seasons. Apart from that murukku is a tasty snack particularly kids’ favorite. Butter murukku is tastier than regular murukku it’s a mouth-melting snack. Crispy and melt in mouth delicious murukku with buttery flavor.

This butter murukku recipe is perfect for beginners. You don’t have to make perfect swirls as butter muruuku is always served as pieces. If you prefer you can make swirls too

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup Rice Flour
  • ¼ cup Urad Dal Flour
  • 1 tbsp Unsalted Butter
  • ½  tsp White Sesame Seeds
  • ½ tsp black cumin Seeds (kalonji)
  • ½ tsp  carom seeds (ajwain)
  • ¼ tsp Asafoetida Powder
  • Oil for frying
  • roughly ½ cup  water for making dough
  • as per taste Salt

NOTE – instead of kalonji , we can add jeera .

METHOD –

Dry roast the urad dal till light golden and grind to a fine powder.

Now seive through a strainer to get a fine urad dal flour (discard the rest of the strained granules)

Combine the dal powder + rice flour + butter +  sesame seeds +  cumin seeds + salt, carom seeds + asafoetida powder.

Add water bit by bit to make a tight dough

Grease a murukku maker .

Make balls of the dough and fill the murukku maker.

Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium flame.

Press the murukku maker over the hot oil and fry till golden brown.

Remove and drain excess oil. Allow to cool and store in an airtight container.
