DRUMSTICK LEAVES SOUP / HEALTHY  MORINGA SOUP

Moringa, a nutrient-packed superfood that comes from the Moringa oleifera tree in India, has been used for centuries in Eastern cultures to alleviate headaches, ease constipation, stimulate the immune system, promote weight loss, and increase libido. Modern research suggests moringa can help lower cholesterol, balance blood sugar, and ease other health concerns.

The leaves of the Moringa tree are edible and are used in cooking from olden times but have become popular in the last few years as a superfood. 

Studies reveal that it reduces liver damage and even helps prevent liver injury. It may also help in restoring liver enzymes, which allow the organ to perform its many duties: clear our blood of drugs, chemicals, and alcohol; convert glucose to starch for storage; and excrete wastes via bile etc

Moringa leaves have almost all the nutrients we need regularly for good health and well being. They have vitamins, calcium, iron, protein, magnesium, zinc, and are low in fat and this helps to cure numerous health problems by keeping our bodily organs healthy.

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cups drumstick leaves
  • 1 tsp jeera
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 cardamom
  • 1 clove
  • Tiny piece of cinnamon
  • ¼ turmeric
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 4 or 5 garlic
  • 6 or 7 shallots or a small onion
  • 1  tomato
  • 2 cup of  water
  • Salt to taste
  • Lemon juice to serve

METHOD

Pluck the drumstick leaves from the stem and set aside. If the leaves are tender then the tiny stems can be added too. Rinse it well twice and drain water. Set aside.

Take cooker add all the ingredients one by one .

Pressure cook upto 3 or 4 whistles

once the pressure releases ,open the cooker .

mash the leaves well .

Squeeze the leaves and all ingredients well and strain it .

[ don’t throw the residue, put it in your plant pots ]

Serve it hot . drizzle lemon juice as needed while serving .

You can have it without straining it also .

NOTE

  1. Grinding the leaves after boiling , might give a bitter taste.
  2. To make it more nutritious , add 1 or 2 tbsp of any dal while cooking
