Ragi idli and dosas recipe
RAGI IDLI / DOSA
INGREDIENTS
- 1 cup – raw rice
- 1 cup – par boiled rice
- 2 cup – ragi / millet pwdr
- 1 – cup skinless whole urad dal
- 1/2 tsp – fenugreek seeds
- Fist full of poha or cooked rice
- Salt as per taste
METHOD
Wash and soak both the rice together for 6 hrs.
Wash and soak urad dal + fenugreek seeds for 4 hrs
Grind the urad dal till very smooth and fluffy.
Add the poha or cooked rice to the soaked rice 10 minutes before grinding and grind the rice to a fine coarse batter.
Now mix the rice batter + urad dal batter + ragi powder + salt and very mix well.[ the consistency should be of an idli batter].
Leave the batter overnight for 8 – 10 hrs .
The next day, the batter should be risen well.
Mix this batter well.
Grease idli plates with little oil and spoon the batter into each moulds.
Place this idli plates into steamer and steam for 10 mins.
Once it is steamed, remove it and let it cool for a bit.
Remove the idlis and serve with sambar, chutney, gunpowder.

NOTE – For ragi dosa the same batter can be made of thin consistency by adding few tbsp of water .
