SOOJI BREAD

SOOJI BREAD RECIPE /SEMOLINA BREAD

INGREDIENTS [ 1 CUP – 250 ML ]

  • Maida / Flour – ¼  cup
  • Fine sooji – 1 ¼  cup
  • Milk powder – 3 tbsp
  • Salt – 1/4  tsp
  • sesame seeds – 2 tsp [ optional ]
  • Active dry yeast – 1 tsp
  • Unsalted melted butter – 3 tbsp
  • Lukewarm water –   3/4 cup
  • Baking  tin greased
  • Unsalted butter to brush

PREPARATION

Blend the sooji in mixie once.

Sieve the flour .

Mix the sooji + maida + yeast and keep aside .

METHOD

Take a bowl ,add 1 tsp sugar + salt +  warm water + milk powder  ,mix well.

Gradually add this milk mixture and start mixing with a spoon.

No need to knead the dough , just mix it well  .

Cover and keep aside for 1 hr.

The dough would have doubled in size.

The dough will be very sticky .

Add 4 tbsp melted butter all over .

Start kneading .

Knead well atleast for  5  TO 8 MINS  .

[ if the dough is wet , you can add little flour ]

Flatten it with your hands making a square shape.

Roll it in a loose cylindrical shape .

Don’t give pressure while rolling .

Tuck the edges .

Form a loaf kind of shape .

Place the dough gently in the greased loaf tin .

Cover it with a thin kitchen towel and keep it in a warm place to rise for  1 hr.

It will again double in volume .

BAKING THE BREAD

Preheat the oven at 180 * C .

Brush the top part of the risen dough with melted butter .

Bake it for 35 to 40 mins .

Till the top browns .

Once done remove and again brush it with butter.

After 5 mins remove from the tin .

*** don’t keep the bread in the tin for a long time ,else it becomes wet from down due to moisture.

Again you can slightly brush butter all over the edges of the bread .

Cover the bread and allow it to cool for 15 mins or till it is completely cooled .

*** don’t slice the bread when it is hot .

White sooji bread is ready for use .
