HOW TO MAKE WHITE BREAD AT HOME / PERFECT WHITE BREAD RECIPE

Home made white bread recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • Maida – 2 ½  cup
  • Sugar – 1 tbsp
  • Warm water – to activate yeast – ¼ cup
  • Warm water to knead – ½ cup + 2 tbsp
  • Active dry Yeast – 1 ¼  tsp [ blue bird brand ]
  • Salt – ¾ tsp
  • Butter at room temperature – ¾ tsp
  • Melted butter – 1 tbsp [unsalted ]

PREPARATION

  1. In a bowl take ¼ cup luke warm water [ should not be hot ]
  2. Add sugar + yeast ,mix well cover and keep aside for 10 mins till the mixture becomes frothy .
  3. *** Pls chk the expiry date of the yeast pkt .
  4. If the mixture doesn’t become frothy ,then throw it and repeat the process.
  5. The process of activating the yeast is very imp .
  6. Add butter and salt to the yeast mixture and give a stir .
  7. Brush a loaf tin with butter and keep aside  [ 8 by 4 ]Height of my tin was 3.

PROOFING OF DOUGH  STEP – 1

Sieve the flour in a big plate .

Add the yeast mixture and mix with clean hands .

Now add the remaining warm water little by little and make a smooth dough .

You have to knead the dough for atleast 8 to 10 mins.

I used my Philips kneading hook and knead the dough for 8 mins.

You can knead with hands or use a food processor also .

Now grease a big bowl with oil .

Rub the dough with little oil from outside and keep it in the greased bowl .

Cover and keep aside for 45 mins to 1 hr till the dough rises and doubles in quantity .

STEP – 2

 Transfer  the dough to a floured surface .

The dough will be soft and stretchy .

*** No need to knead now.

Flatten it with your hands making a square shape.

Roll it in a loose cylindrical shape .

Don’t give pressure while rolling .

Tuck the edges as shown in video .

Form a loaf kind of shape .

Place the dough gently in the greased loaf tin .

Cover it with a thin kitchen towel and keep it in a warm place to rise for 45 mins to 1 hr.

It will again double in volume .

BAKING THE BREAD

Preheat the oven at 180 * C .

Brush the top part of the risen dough with melted butter .

Bake it for 35 to 40 mins .

*** Mine was done in 48 mins.

Till the top browns .

Once done remove and again brush it with butter.

After 5 mins remove from the tin .

*** don’t keep the bread in the tin for a long time ,else it becomes wet from down due to moisture.

Again you can slightly brush butter all over the edges of the bread .

Cover the bread and allow it to cool for 15 mins or till it is completely cooled .

*** don’t slice the bread when it is hot .

White bread is ready for use .

Nothing less than Wibs white bread .

NOTES

  1. This bread was very soft / light / fluffy as we have not used milk in the recipe.
  2. You can always adjust water and flour as per requirement to make a soft dough .If you feel dough is watery add extra flour and vice versa.
  3. At room temperature ,you can cover and use the bread for 4 days.
  4. Remaining dough can be used for buns /pav /pizza bread / cinnamon rolls .
  5. For proofing the dough both the times ,I kept the dough in a closed oven .
