SOUTHINDIAN STYLE CHICKEN KURMA

INGREDIENTS

Chicken – 500 grms
Onion finely chopped  –
Tomato finely chopped – 2
Ginger Garlic paste – 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp
Salt – to taste

Freshly grated coconut – ½ cup
Fennel Seeds – 1 ½  tsp
Red Chilli powder – 1 ½ or 2  tsp

Coriander powder – 3 tsp

Garam masala pwdr – ¼ tsp
Poppy seeds – 1 ½ tsp
Cashews – 5

Oil – 2 tbsp
Bayleaf – 1
Cinnamon – ½  inch piece
Cloves – 2
Cardamom – 2
Curry Leaves few
Coriander Leaves – to garnish

METHOD

Make a fine paste of coconut  + poppy seeds + cashew + fennel seeds .Add water as needed .

Heat a cooker with oil .

Add the whole garam masalas and let it splutter.

Add onion and stir fry till light brown .

Add ginger garlic paste and stir fry till raw smell leaves .

Add tomato + salt and stir fry till tomatoes soften.

Add turmeric + coriander pwdr + red chilli pwdr + grama masala pwdr and mix well.

Stir fry for few mins.

Now add chicken and saute for 3 to 4 mins till colour and texture changes.

Add 3 cups of  water [ water as per the constistency you want ] and pressure cook for 2 whistles on medium flame.

Once pressure releases open and give a mix,  add coconut paste and mix well

Allow it to boil for 2 to 3 mins and off the flame .

 Garnish with coriander leaves .

Goes well with rice, ildi , dosa, parotta,appam etc
