EGGLESS ZEBRA CAKE

zebra cake is a mixture of yellow and chocolate cake that, instead of being marbled, is poured into the pan in such a way so as to create stripes as you would see on a zebra. The zebra stripe effect is achieved by dropping alternating spoonfuls of batter into the pan.

EGGLESS ZEBRA CAKE RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup maida
  • 2 tsp unsweetened cocoa pwdr
  • 2 tbsp sugar powdered
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 200 grams condense milk
  • 50 grams melted butter
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp Vinegar/lemon juice

METHOD

Sift flour + baking powder  + bking soda +  powdered sugar in a bowl, mix it well and keep aside.

In another bowl make a wet mixture of   condensed milk, vanilla essence, water + butter + oil , mix it well. [ blend in mixie ]

Now gradually add dry mixture into the wet mixture and mix it well.

Mix it well in cut and fold method to trap the air which makes the cake soft and spongy.

Lastly add vinegar, mix it well and make smooth batter.

Divide the batter into two equal parts.

Take one part of the batter, add cocoa powder and mix it well.

This way we will have two batters – vanilla batter and chocolate batter .

 Take 6 inch aluminium tin, grease it with butter/ oil and dust with flour.

Pour 1 tbsp of plain/ vanilla batter in the middle of the prepared pan and then pour over 1 tbsp. of colourful batter. Repeat the process and use both the batters alternate to make layers until all the batter has been used.

Tab the pan on countertop so that air bubbles gets removed .

Bake it on 180 *in a pre-heated oven for 35 to 40 minutes or till the knife inserted into the centre of cake comes out clean.

Once it cools down a bit, scratch the sides of the pan, invert the tin and tap sharply to unmould the cake.

Cut into slices and serve.

NOTES – You can add a drop of red colour in the cocoa batter
