Green peas pulav recipe /MATAR PULAO RECIPE
GREEN PEAS PULAV RECIPE
INGREDIENTS
- Basmati rice – 1 cup
- Green peas – ½ cup
- Oil + Ghee – 2 tbsp
- Whole garam masala – sai jeera+cloves+cardamom+javitri+bayleaves+cinamom+star anise+black pepper [few]
- Onion finely chopped – 1
- Green chilli – 2 slit or as per taste
- Ginger + Garlic paste – 2 tsp
- Coriander leaves + Mint leaves finely chopped – ½ cup each
- Sugar – ½ tsp
- Salt as per taste
- Fried cashew nuts for garnishing.
PREPARATION – Wash and soak the basmati rice for atleast 20 mins.
METHOD
Heat ghee + oil in a pan, add the whole garam masala and let it splutter.
Add the onion and saute till light golden brown.
Add the ginger garlic paste and fry till raw smell leaves.
Add the coriander leaves + mint leaves + green chillies and fry till the leaves shrink.
Add the green peas , mix well and cook till for 2 mins.
Now add the drained rice and mix well till the rice gets coated with the masala.
Add 2 cup of hot water + salt + sugar and mix well.
Cover and cook till water evaporates.
Now place a tava under the pan and cook for 8 – 10 mins on low flame.[dum]
Once done garnish with fried cashew nuts.
Serve it hot with any veg or non veg gravy. It can be even had plain with little pickle and salad
GREEN PEAS PULAO IN COOKER – PRESSURE COOKER PEAS PULAO
NOTES
- Instead of basmati rice you can use any regular rice.
- Amount of green peas depends upon you .
- You can use fresh peas or frozen peas .
- Instead of water you can use coconut milk.
- Instead of plain water you can use stock [maggi veg or non veg cubes]
- I use the ratio of 1 : 2 [rice and water].
- If you feel the rice is not cooked well and the water is completely evaporated then sprinkle little water and keep it on dum.
- For dum you can cover with foil and then place the lid.
- You can also garnish with fried onions.
- Same recipe you can add other veggies , paneer ,mushroom etc etc and it becomes a pulav of that ingredients .
- For mixed veg pulav add mixed veggies like cauliflower , potato, green peas, carrot, beans.
- Instead of veges you can add chicken for chicken pulav.
- You can add turmeric pwdr also.
- Don’t reduce the oil + ghee quatity.
- You can also cook in the pressure cooker.
