IXORA FLOWER CHUTNEY

The flowers, leaves, roots, and the stem are used to treat various ailments in the Indian traditional system of medicine, the Ayurveda, and in various folk medicines, in traditional Indian medicine the fusion of juice leaves and the fruit of Ixora coccinea is used to care for dysentery, ulcers and gonorrhea.

Acts as a natural astringent by removing excess oil from pores and tightening them. Rich in tannin, it promotes hair growth. Ixora is used in cosmetic products such as hair oils and body creams. Make a paste of Ixora flowers.

INGREDIENTS

  • Red or white ixora flowers – 1 cup tightly packed
  • Coconut ` – ½  cup
  • Red chilli – 2 or as per taste
  • Dal – 2 tbsp
  • Peanut – 2 tbsp
  • Garlic – 1
  • Tamarind – tiny piece [ optional ]
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tsp
  •  mustard seeds – ½ tsp
  •  curry leaves – few

METHOD

Wash the flowers and drain the water.

Heat few drops of oil and stir fry the flowers for a min.Colour should not change.

Off the flame.

Take coconut + flowers + red chilli + dal+ peanut + garlic + tamarind + salt in a mixi jar and grind.

Add water as needed .

Transfer to a bowl and temper it .

CHUTNEY is ready to be served with any southindian breakfast items.
