BELL PEPPER CHEELA RINGS

INGREDIENTS

  • Bell pepper / capsicum roundels as needed
  • Besan – 2 cup
  • Curd – 2 tbsp
  • Red chilli pwdr – ½ tsp.
  • Turmeric – a pinch
  • Chaat masala + amchur – ¼ tsp
  • Ginger + garlic + green chilli paste – 1 tbsp
  • Asafoetida – a pinch.
  • Onion very finely chopped – 1 big
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves – 3 tbsp
  • Salt as per taste.
  • Ghee or oil to drizzle
  • Baking soda – 1/4 tsp

METHOD

Cut peppers into rings ( ¼  inch thick), carefully remove any attached stems and seeds and set aside

Mix all the ingredients with enough water till you get the consistency of dosa batter or beaten egg.

Heat your non stick pan, add just enough oil to barely coat the pan .

Place the rings as shown in video.

Pour the batter in each ring and let it cook on medium flame .

Flip on the other side and cook for sometime till both the sides are crisp and light golden in colour .

Serve it hot with any chutney or sauce.

NOTES

  1. Be careful it has to be cooked on low flame or it will not get cooked evenly and will get burnt.
  2. The batter should not be very thin , else it will leak through the rings .
  3. You can add ajwain.
  4. You can also add tomatoes ,cheese or grated vegetables to it.
