NO COCONUT CHUTNEY RECIPE

CHUTNEY FOR IDLI AND DOSA WITHOUT COCONUT

INGREDIENTS

  • Onion – 1 medium
  • Green chilli – 3 or 4 or as per taste
  • Oil – 2 tsp + 2 tsp
  • Daria dal /chutney dal / futana dal  – 4 or tbsp
  • Black pepper – 8 nos
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
  • Curry leaves – few

METHOD

Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan and add the onions and stir fry till translucent.

Add green chilli give a nice mix and off the flame.

Allow to cool and transfer to a mixie jar.

Add daria dal + black pepper + salt and grind.

Now add 1 or 1 ½ cup water and grind into fine .

Adjust water as the consistency you want .

Transfer to a serving bowl .

Heat a pan with 2 tsp oil .

Add mustard seeds and let it crackle.

Add curry leaves , give a mix and pour it over the chutney .

Serve chutney with southindian breakfast items .
