SOYA CHUNKS WITH POTATO

INGREDIENTS

  • Soya chunks mini – 1 cup
  • Onion – 1
  • Tomato – 2 small puree
  • Ketchup – 2 tsp
  • sugar – 1/2 tsp
  • Potato – 1 big size [ cubed ]
  • Ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
  • Chilli pwdr – 1 tsp or as per taste [ use kashmiri for more colour ]
  • Coriander pwdr – 2 tsp
  • Garam masala pwdr – ½ tsp OR kitchen king masala – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric – ¼ tsp
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Jeera – 1 tsp
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves for garnish
  • Salt to taste

PREPARATION

  1. Boil the soya chunks in hot water with salt for 3 mins . Off the flame , let it remain in the same water for 10 mins . Drain the water , wash and rinse the chunks , squeeze off the excess water and keep aside . [ if using big chunks ,chop it into 2 ]
  2. Blend onion + tomato + ketchup + sugar + salt into puree.
  3. Peel the potato and cube it .

METHOD

Heat oil in a cooker , add jeera and let it crackle.

Add ginger garlic paste and fry till raw smell leaves .

Add onion tomato paste and fry till oil separates .

Add chilli pwdr + coriander pwdr + garam masala pwdr + turmeric  and fry .

Add potatoes ,mix well and fry for a min.

Add squeezed soya chunks , mix well and stir fry for 3 to 4 min till it gets coated with the masala .

Add 1 or 1 1/2 cup water .Adjust salt if needed.

Close the cooker and pressure cook upto 2 whistles .

Once the pressure releases ,open the cooker and mix well.

If it is watery ,then simmer for sometimes,

Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves .

** You can also add 1 tbsp of fresh cream towards the end .

NOTE – roasting the soya chunks is important step .
