INGREDIENTS
- Ripe Pineapple – 1 medium size
- Sugar – ½ cup depending upon the sweetness of the fruit or as per taste
- A pinch of yellow food colour [ optional ]
- Water – 7 cups [ more or less depending on how thick you want the juice]
- Few drops of pineapple essence [ optional ]
METHOD
Peel the pineapple and chop it into small pieces.
Take the water in pan and allow it to boil.
Once it starts boiling add the pineapple pieces .
Cook on low flame for 10 minutes.
Add the sugar and again cook for 10 minutes till the pinelapple become soft and mushy.
Allow it to cool and blend it.
Strain it through a strainer.
Check the consistency and sugar.
Refrigerate it for few hours till chilled and Serve.
VARIATION – Pressure cook the pineapple + water + sugar upto 6 or 7 whistles. [ Nowadays I follow this method to save time ]
VARIATION
Blend the juice with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream for a yummilicious pineapple punch.And when we add coconut milk + ice cream ,our Pinacolada will be ready .
NOTES
- As pineapple takes time to cook ,make small pieces or pressure cook .
- It can be stored for 3 – 4 days in fridge.
- Will taste same like canned pineapple juice.
- Some times the fruit doesn’t have its natural fragrance , that’s when we add essence.
- Just freeze the juice for few hours ,scrape it with a fork and serve – your pineapple granita is ready .
