INGREDIENTS

  • Raw banana – 2
  • Red chilli pwdr – 1 tsp or as per taste
  • Turmeric pwdr – ¼ tsp
  • Coriander pwdr – 1 tsp
  • Sambar pwdr – 1 tsp [sambar pwdr also has chilli ]
  • Rice flour – 1 tsp [ optional for crispiness ]
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to fry – 1 or 2 tbsp
  • Curry leaves – a sprig

PREPARATION

  1. Chop off the top andbottom part of the raw banana.Pressure cook upto 1 OR 2 whistles.It should not become very soft .[ don’t over cook ]
  2. Peel the skin and slice it into thick strips .

METHOD

Take all the masala pwdrs + rice flour  + salt in a  plate and mix well – add 1or 2 tbsp water to make a thick paste .

Take the raw banana slices and apply the masala all over . See that it is coated nicely.

Keep aside for marination for 10 mins or more .

Heat oil in a frying pan .

Arrange the masala coated banana strips and fry on medium flame till it gets crisp and golden.

Flip and cook on the other sides also .[ don’t burn ]

Finally sprinkle the curry leaves and off the flame .

Serve hot as a side dish .

Sprinkle little chaat masala / lemon juice while serving .[ optional ]

NOTES

  1. Instead of sambar masala ,you can use ¼ tsp garam masala pwdr and increase chilli pwdr accordingly .
  2. Instead of rice flour v can use besan .
  3. Add a pinch of asafoetida .
  4. Instead of frying we can also bake it .
  5. Same recipe can be tried with potato and raw banana.
  6. Pls don’t over cook the Raw banana .It should be firm .If it is little overcooked then you can refrigerate for sometime .
