STREET STYLE COCONUT CHUTNEY FOR IDLI AND DOSA
INGREDIENTS
- Roasted chana dal – / daria dal – 2 tbsp
- Roasted crisp skinless peanuts – ¼ cup
- Freshly coconut bits – ½ to ¾ cup
- Green chilli – 3 or 4 or as per taste
- Ginger – small piece
- Garlic – 3
- Shallots – 3
- Coriander leaves – ¼ cup
- Salt to taste
- Water – 1 ½ or 2 cups
- Oil – 2 tsp
- Mustard seeds – ¾ tsp
- Curry leaves – 1 sprig
METHOD
Firstly grind all ingredients except coconut without water to a fine powder .
Now add coconut and grind to a smooth paste , don’t grind the coconut to smooth .Check the picture , you can see bits of coconut .
Add water and grind .
Transfer to a serving bowl .
Heat oil in a small pan .
Crackle the mustard seeds.
Add curry leaves , give a mix and pour over the chutney .
SERVE WITH ANY SOUTHINDIAN BREAKFASTE
