Rose milk RECIPE

                                                                              ROSE MILK

INGREDIENTS

  • Rose syrup – 1 ½ tbsp
  • Chilled milk – 1 cup
  • Sabja seeds – 1 tsp
  • Rose petals for garnish
  • Ice cubes – as required

PREPARATION

  1. Soak the sabja seeds in water for minimum 10 mins or more to swell .
  2. Boil ,filter and cool the milk . It has to be chilled .
  3. If you don’t have rose syrup make it at home using the below recipes . I have used store bought syrup where sugar is already added ,so no deed to add sugar.

ROSE SYRUP AT HOME

Boil 2 cups sugar + 1 ½ cup water . Let it boil for 3 – 4 mins. At the end add ½ or ¾ tsp of red /pink food colour ,mix well and off the flame . Now add  1 tsp of rose essence and mix well. The syrup has to be thick and not of string consistency . Let the syrup cool . Store it in a bottle in the fridge and use as required .

METHOD

Take chilled milk + rose syrup in a big mixie jar and blend it till frothy .

Take few ice cubes in a glass , pour the frothy rose milk .

Now add the 1 or 2 tsp of soaked sabja seeds .

Garnish with few rose petals .

Serve chilled .

VARIATION

Rose milkshake – We can also blend a scoop of vanilla ice cream OR top the drink with a scoop of vanilla ice cream .

NOTES

  1. Sabja seed is optional .
  2. Before making you can keep the milk in freezer for sometime , so that it becomes very chill .
  3. Instead of rose syrup you can use roohafza.
  4. You can also add fruits like tadgola or lychee which are transparent.
  5. It has to be served chilled.
  6. Use rose syrup as per your taste .[ how strong you want the flavour to be ]
  7. Use filtered milk , so that there are no cream / malai in the milk .
  8. You get rose milk essence in shops. If using only essence then we have to add sugar.
  9. You can also add thinly sliced almonds .
  10. You can make rose essence at home use gulkhand variety of roses .
