SINDHI STYLE GREEN MOONG DAL GRAVY

INGREDIENTS

  • Green moong dal – ½ cup
  • Tomato chopped -1
  • Ginger chopped – 1 tsp
  • Green chilli – 2
  • Garlic cloves – 2 tbsp crushed
  • Turmeric powder – ¼  tsp
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp or as per taste
  • Asafoetida – a pinch
  • Curry leaves – 1 sprig
  • Coriander leaves

METHOD

Soak whole moong for 30 mins

Bring 2 cup water to boil in cooker.

When its starts boiling add in soaked dal + tomato + turmeric + green chilli + ginger + salt and give a mix .

Pressure cook upto 1 whistle.

Lower the flame and keep for 5 mins.

Let the pressure release.

Once it releases , open the cooker and mash the dal . Adjust 1 or 1 1/2 cup hot water as the dal thickens on cooling .

Keep on low flame.

Now heat oil in  a small pan .

Add jeera + curry leaves + asafoetida  and let it crackle.

Add garlic and stir fry till light brown.

Lower the flame and add chilli pwdr.

Immediately pour this in the cooker.

Drizzle 1 tsp lemon juice .

Cover it partly and simmer for just 1 min.

Garnish with coriander leaves and off the flame .

Serve hot with rice or chapati .
