BATATA KAAP/ BATATYACHE KAAP

Batata Kaap a popular Maharashtrian recipe are shallow fried potato slices coated with some spices and semolina. It is slightly crisp from outside while soft from inside. This can be served as a side dish with dal-rice or roti-sabzi. 

INGREDIENTS [ adjust ingredients as per taste ]

  • Potato
  • Chilli pwdr
  • Garam masala pwdr
  • Chaat masala
  • Amchur pwdr
  • Asafoetida
  • Salt
  • Rice flour
  • Fine sooji
  • Oil

METHOD

Peel and Wash the Potatoes thoroughly.

Cut into thick roundels and soak in water. Make sure they are not too thin, else they would burn  quickly.

Drain the water from roundels.

Dip and Coat the roundels with masalas as shown in  the video.

Heat oil for shallow frying the roundels.

Fry the roundels on low to medium flame.

Cook till it achieves golden brown colour and crsip on each side.

Flip them over after cooking for almost 3-4 min on one side.

Let them cook on other side too.

Remove on paper towel

Batatyache Kaap are ready to be served.
