GRILLED MASALA ALOO SANDWICH

GRILLED MASALA ALOO SANDWICH /POTATO SANDWICH TOAST

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 cup boiled and mashed potatoes 
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼  cup finely chopped capsicum
  • ¼  cup finely chopped onions
  • 2 tbsp finely chopped coriander leaves
  • ½ or ¾  tsp or as per taste red chili powder
  • ¼  tsp roasted jeera powder
  • ½  tsp garam masala
  • ½ tsp chaat masala
  • ½  tsp dried mango powder
  • Brown or white sandwich bread  slices

  • Butter as needed
  • Grated cheese as needed

METHOD

In a bowl take boiled peeled potatoes, mash the potatoes well .

Add chopped onions, capsicum ,masala pwdrs and chopped coriander leaves. 

Mix well and adjust taste as needed .

Apply thin layer of  butter  all over the top part of bread. [ butter is important to avoid the bread from becoming soggy .

Now apply chutney as needed .

Spread a generous amount of the potato mixture

Top with grated cheese.Avoid spreading cheese at the edges , to avoid melting of chhese and oozing out .

Close the slices, press gently, apply butter on the slice facing upwards.

Now, carefully place these sandwiches on a pre-heated griller or electronic sandwich maker.  Grill till the sandwiches turn golden and crisp .

Switch off the griller and transfer the sandwiches to a serving plate.

Slice the grilled sandwiches diagonally into triangles.

Grilled potato masala sandwiches are ready. Serve immediately with chutney or sauce of choice .

GRILLING ON A TAVA

Heat a tava on medium heat.

Place the sandwich, buttered side down on the tawa.

Don’t apply butter on top .

Place a lid with heavy thing on it

Toast on medium-low heat for 1-2 minutes or until golden brown.

 Flip and toast the other side until golden brown by placing the lid with heavy object .
