MOGRI KI SABJI / RADISH PODS RECIPE

Mogri {moongre} is a vegetable from the Radish family. It is the radish pods that is edible. Mogri or radish pods are a winter vegetable usually available in December, January and February. Radish pods/ Mogri are rich in ascorbic acid, folic acid, and potassium. They are a good source of vitamin B6, riboflavin, magnesium, copper, and calcium. 

Mogri ki Sabji is an easy  recipe made with tender green radish pods, potatoes, spices and is super tasty and comforting.

INGREDIENTS

  • Mogri (Radish pods) 250 GRMS
  • 1 boiled potato [ I added boiled water chestnut – shingara ]
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tomato
  • 2 tsp crushed garlic
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • ½  tsp cumin
  • ½ tsp kalonji
  • 1 tsp or as per  red chilli powder
  • ¼  tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ½  chaat masala
  • ¼ tsp sugar [ optional ]
  • Salt

METHOD

Heat oil in a pan .

Add jeera + kalonji and let it splutter.

Add onion + garlic and stir fry till translucent.

Add tomato + salt and cook till it softens.

Add red chilli pwdr + turmeric + coriander pwdr + chaat masala + sugar and stir fry for a min.

Add the chopped mogri and mix.

Stir and cook for 2 mins.

Add 80 percent cooked potato and mix well.

Add ½ cup water and mix well.

Cover and cook on medium flame till the veg is cooked and water evaporates.

Finally open the lid , give a mix and garnish with finely chopped coriander leaves .

Serve with any indian bread items like phulka / roti / paratha/ bhakri /thepla etc
