MAWA PAAK / HALDIRAM STYLE GOND PARK /MEWA PAAG

Mewa Paag or Panch Mewa Pag is a tradional special sweet made during the auspicious Hindu festival of Janmashtami and is offered as bhog / prasad in temples and homes.

It is a sweet fudge or bar made with different dry fruits and seeds with sugar or jaggery syrup.

Not only for the festival but you can make it for other fasting days or for healthy snacking. It is a very nutritious sweet treat as it has lots of dry fruits including gond , makhana  and Coconut.

INGREDIENTS

  • Ghee – ½ cup
  • Gond – 1/3 cup
  • Cashew – ½ cup
  • Badam – ½ cup
  • Raisins – ¼ cup
  • Makhana – 1 cup
  • Desiccated coconut – 1 cup
  • Magaj seeds – ¼ cup
  • Poppy seeds – 2 tbsp
  • Cardamom pwdr – 1 ½ tsp
  • Rose essence – 2 drops

METHOD

Heat ghee and fry each ingredients one by one separately .

Fry on medium flame ,don’t burn the ingredients.

Once done cool it.

Crush the makhana and gond .

Chop the dry fruits .

NOTE – if possible use a chopper for even chopping .

Keep aside .

FOR SUGAR SYRUP

  • Sugar –  1 ½
  • Water – ½ cup
  • cup

METHOD

Boil and make 1 string consistency syrup .

Once done , add all the fried ingredients + cardamom pwdr + rose essence and mix well.

Immediately transfer to a greased tin .

Garnish with desiccated coconut or any nuts or rose petals.

NOTE – We can also make ladoo shaped .
