HOW TO MAKE NAGPUR SPECIAL TARRI POHA RECIPE

Poha is a staple Indian breakfast dish, and it is said that Nagpur serves one of the yummiest pohas. 

Tarri Poha is a speciality of Vidarbha region in Maharashtra, more specifically Nagpur.

Tarri Poha is a delicious breakfast that combines Pohe with a spicy sprouts based gravy called the Tarri. 

INGREDIENTS

  • Cooked poha as needed
  • Oil – 2 or 4 tbsp oil
  • Onion – 1 medium size
  • Garlic – 5
  • Ginger – a small piece
  • Mixed sprouts or kala chana or any sprouts – 1 cup
  • Peanuts  pwdr –  1 tbsp
  • Besan –  ½  tsp
  • Sugar – ¼ tsp
  • Coriander pwdr – 1 ½ tsp
  • Red chilli pwdr – 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric pwdr – ½ tsp
  • Goda masala or garam masala – 1 tsp

METHOD

Cook poha and keep aside in a hot box – POHA RECIPES –https://maryzkitchen.com/?s=Poha

Grind together onion + ginger + garlic into fine paste .

Heat oil in a cooker .

Lower the flame and add sugar + chilli pwdr + coriander pwdr + turmeric and give a quick stir .

Immediately add onion ginger garlic paste .

Stir fry on medium flame till oil separates, colour should not change .

Add sprouts and give a nice mix .

Add besan + peanuts , stir fry for 2 mins on medium flame .

Add 3 to 3 1/2 cup water and give a mix .

Adjust salt .

Pressure cook upto 2 or 3 whistles.

Allow the pressure to release on own .

Once done transfer to serving bowl and garnish with coriander leaves .

HOW TO SERVE

The Tarri should be  hot .

Take a portion of  Poha in a deep plate .

Now pour some Tarri over it.

Sprinkle a generous amount of sev  + finely chopped onion + coriander leaves over the poha.

Drizzle few drops of lemon juice and serve immediately

Serve immediately .
