EASY PRAWNS THOKKU RECIPE
EASY PRAWNS THOKKU /SOUTHINDIAN STYLE PRAWNS MASALA /ERAL THOKKU /PRAWNS SIDE DISH FOR IDLI ,DOSA .APPAM
INGREDIENTS
- Prawns – 250 grms
- Oil – 3 tbsp
- Onion thinly sliced – 1 big
- Slit green chilli – 1
- Curry leaves – 1 sprig
- Ginger garlic paste – 1 tbsp
- Tomato chopped – 1 big
- Red chilli pwdr – 1 ½ or 2 tsp or as per taste
- Turmeric – ¼ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Water – ½ or ¾ cup or as per the consistency you want
- Finely chopped coriander leaves for garnish
METHOD
Deshell and devein the prawns. Wash it well and drain the water.
Apply little salt + turmeric and keep aside till use .
Heat oil in a pan.
Add onion + curry leaves + green chilli and stir fry till translucent.
Add ginger garlic paste and stir fry till raw smell leaves .
Add tomato + salt and cook till tomatoes soften .
Add red chilli pwdr + turmeric and stir fry for a min .
Add prawns and fry for 1 min .
Add water and mix well.
Add the coriander leaves and mix .
Cover and cook for 5 to 7 mins .
Don’t over cook else the texture of prawns will become rubbery . The cooking ting time for big prawns is roughly 7 to 8 mins.
Once done off the flame .
Eral thokku ready to serve .
Goes well with bread items /plain rice /idli /dosa/ appam/idiyappam etc
