KERALA STYLE STEAMED RICE BANANA BALLS

INGREDIENTS

  • Banana –  1 big
  • Rice flour- 1 cup
  • Turmeric – tiny pinch
  • Grated coconut -1 cup
  • Cardamom – ½ tsp
  • Chopped dry fruits  – 1 tbsp
  • Sugar – ¾ cup
  • Ghee – 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

METHOD

Heat ghee in a pan add dry fruits  and stir fry till golden.

Add grated coconut +  cardamom and mix  well.

Add sugar and  mix well .

Stir and cook  for 5 mins. Once done off the flame and allow to cool .

Heat a pan , add rice flour and stir fry  for 4 or 5 minutes till hot , colour should not change .Remove and keep aside .

Peel the bananas and mash it well .

Add roasted rice flour + ghee +  salt + turmeric  and mix.

Make a soft dough.

Now take a small  portion of dough and flatten it on the palm .

Place a tbsp coconut mixture in the middle and close the dough
and shape it back into a smooth  ball.

Grease a plate and place the balls.

Steam the balls in the steamer for 12 to 15 on low flame.

Serve hot with coffee /tea .
