SUN DRIED MIXED DAL VADI / MAHARASHTRIAN SANDAGE RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

  • Moong dal – 500 grms
  • Chana dal – 250 grms
  • Moth dal – 250 grms
  • Chauli dal – 250 grms
  • Urad dal – 125 grms
  • Asafoetida – 1 tbsp
  • Garlic – ½ cup
  • Turmeric – 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste  
  • Jeera – 4 to 5 tbsp
  • Whole coriander seeds – ½ cup
  • Red chilli – 15 – 20  or as per taste

NOTE – we can use any dals like toovar / masoor / moong / green moong etc



METHOD

Wash and soak all the dals in sufficient water overnight .
Rinse and drain the water .

Grind into coarse paste by adding all other ingredients .

Taste and adjust the ingredients

Lay out a plastic sheet in the sun.
Start dropping small chunks .
Let them dry in sun for couple of days until they are completely dry and stone like.
Store them in an airtight container and use as required

USES – Dry roast it in a pan. Add it to any vegetable and cook till soft.
