LIGHT AND FLUFFY MASHED POTATO RECIPE
Mashed potato or mashed potatoes, colloquially known as mash, is a dish made by mashing boiled or steamed potatoes, usually with added milk, butter, salt and pepper. It is generally served as a side dish to meat or vegetables.
The main ingredient in the mashed potato is potato and it has many health benefits because of which the mashed potato is considered healthy. Potato is rich in carbs and these provide energy that can fuel your day keeping you energetic.
INGREDIENTS
- 3 medium size potatoes [ usually russet potato are used ]
- Salt
- ½ cup hot milk
- 3 or 4 tbsp butter

Peel, pierce and remove the knots from the potato .
Chop into small cubes.
Bring Water to boil .
Add potatoes + salt . cook on medium flame .
Water should be just little above the potatoes .
Partially cover and cook till the potatoes are done . don’t over cook .[ 20 to 22 mins ]
Drain off the complete water.Very important there should be no moisture .
Transfer to a big bowl and mash it well with a masher .
Using the masher , you can mash till desired consistency or use a beater like me to get a light and fluffy texture .
Add ½ cup hot milk
Beat it for a minute .
Now add butter and beat for 1 more min .
Check the consistency and adjust salt as needed.
It is generally served as a side dish to meat or vegetables.
NOTE
- We can add chiili flakes / pepper pwdr / mixed herbs / finely minced garlic for variation in taste
- Some add finely chopped chives / coriander leaves
- You can refrigerate and use by reheating .
- Some add cheese for rich flavour .
- Instead of butter we can use olive oil .
- Don’t use mixie.
