BANANA PUTTU /KERALA ETHAKKA PUTTU | NENDRAPAZHAM PUTTU 

Here this puttu i have made using wheat and ragi puttu flour

Made of steamed rice flour and grated coconut, Puttu has a unique taste and texture, which comes from the special container that it is steamed in. Traditionally, Puttu was steamed in coconut shells but now stainless steel puttu steamers are readily available in shops.

This delicious steamed rice cake cooked with coconut shavings is extremely popular in Kerala and can be relished with kadala curry, egg curry and even ripe bananas.

Nutritionists have rated puttu and kadala curry as the healthiest breakfast in Kerala. The combination of carbs and proteins is considered a great partnership according to them. Since it is steamed, it not only retains the nutrients but is also a great source of energy

Banana Puttu OR  Pazham Puttu is one of the malayali’s family favourite breakfast. Banana puttu  is the combination of puttu mix with coconut banana .Banana mixture give a twist to the usual puttu with a sweet taste.

Actually banana puttu is made by steaming chopped banana with puttu flour and coconut. But here I have given a twist . It is a filling and healthy breakfast . This way kids enjoy eating it .

here i have used tri colour puttu made from palak and carrot puttu

INGREDIENTS

  • Make any puttu either with rice / wheat /any millets/ ragi etc – follow the recipe here – ttps://maryzkitchen.com/?s=puttu
  • Sweet ripe bananas as needed
  • Jaggery powder or sugar [ optional ] to adjust sweetness if needed.

METHOD

Take required amount of prepared puttu in a plate .

Crumble it nice with clean hands.

Now add the chopped banana slices as needed .

Mash and mix well .

Adjust sugar or jaggery if needed.

Make small balls like ladoos and serve immediately.

As we are adding banana serve immediately .

You can call these fresh ladoos made of banana and any flours.

Banana acts as binding ingredient and also add sweetness .
