BUTTER GARLIC GREEN PEAS

Green Peas are a great food to have in your diet as they are sort of like a multi-vitamin because they are packed full of a variety of minerals and nutrients.

Peas are a good source of vitamins C and E, zinc, and other antioxidants that strengthen your immune system. Other nutrients, such as vitamins A and B and coumestrol, help reduce inflammation and lower your risk of chronic conditions, including diabetes, heart disease, and arthritis.

For starters, not only they are an excellent source of folate, manganese, dietary fibre and protein, but they can also help you lose those extra kilos when used strategically. This one is a no-brainer. Since peas are rich in fibre, they keep you feeling fuller for a longer duration of time.

They are one of the best plant-based proteins

INGREDIENTS

  • Fresh green peas – 1 cup
  • Butter – 1 tbsp + 1 tsp oil
  • Garlic thinly sliced – 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves – 2 tbsp
  • Pepper pwdr / chilli flakes as needed.

METHOD

Boil the green peas with little salt for 8 to 10 mins till soft.

Don’t over cook . Don’t cover the pan while boiling .

Immediately drain the water.

Heat oil + butter in a pan

Add garlic and stir fry for few seconds till brown.

Add the green peas and toss on high flame for few mins .

Add salt + pepper pwdr / chilli flakes as needed .

Add coriander leaves and give a nice stir and off the flame.

Serve hot as a starter or accompaniment for liquor.

NOTE

  1. If using frozen peas , just boil for 4 to 5 mins .
  2. We can also add onion.
  3. We can add green chilli.
  4. you can add other spices of you taste like jeera / red chilli pwdr / oregano / mixed herbs etc
