CURD OATS RECIPE / DAHI OATS / YOGHURT OATMEAL RECIPE / THAYIR OATS

 A simple and quick Indian style oats with lightly seasoned creamy yogurt. 

A combination of oats and curd can naturally improve metabolism, relieve constipation, accelerate fat loss, improve bone health and heart health. Oats and curd can help in reducing bad cholesterol, which prevents clogging up of arteries, improves cardiovascular health and reduces the risk for strokes.

INGREDIENTS

  • Oats – ½ cup [ I have used quaker ]
  • Curd – ½ or ¾  cup
  • Milk – 3 or 4 tbsp to adjust the consistency
  • Salt needed
  • Grated carrot – 2 or 3 tbsp
  • Grated cucumber – 2 or 3 tbsp
  • Oil –  1 or 2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds + urad dal – ½  tsp
  • Green chilli finely chopped – as per taste
  • Asafoetida – a pinch
  • Ginger grated – ½ tsp [ optional ]
  • Curry leaves few
  • Few broken cashew or peanuts
  • Red chilli – 1
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves / pomegranate  for garnish
  • Salt as per taste.

METHOD

Boil 1  ¼  cup water + salt . add the oats and mix well .

Stir and cook on low heat till the water is absorbed .

Off the flame and allow to cool .

Add milk + curd + salt to taste and mix well .

Add  carrot + cucumber + ginger + chilli + curry leaves + coriander leaves and mix well .

Heat oil in a pan .

Add mustard seeds + urad dal and let it crackle .

Add cashew and red chilli and fry .

Add asafoetida and stir.

Add this tempering  into the curd rice and mix well.

Serve warm or even chilled with any side dish.
