INSTANT RAVA UTTAPAM /INSTANT SUJI UTTAPAM /SOOJI UTTAPA

Instant Rava Uttapam Recipe – Everybody loves an uttapam, when it is hot & freshly made in minutes. Traditional Uttapam or Ootappa recipe uses fermented rice & lentil batter but here it is an Instant Rava Uttapam made with Rava (suji/sooji) & curd. It is easy to prepare and can be served with a variety of South Indian chutney /dips /sauces .

Instant rava uttapam /instant suji uttapam /sooji uttapa recipe

INGREDIENTS

  • Rava – 1 cup
  • Curd – ¼ cup [ sour ]
  • Salt to taste
  • Water – roughly 1 cup
  • Grated ginger – 1 tsp
  • Finely chopped onions – 2 tbsp
  • Finely chopped capsicum – 2 tbsp
  • Grated carrot – 2 tbsp
  • Tomato finely chopped – 2 tbsp
  • Green chilli – 1 or as per taste
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves – 1 tbsp.
  • Baking soda – a generous pinch [optional ]
  • Ghee as required

METHOD

Take  rava + curd + salt + water in a bowl .

Mix well and make a batter.

Rest for 20 to 30 minutes or until the rava absorbs well.

*check for consistency adding more water if required.

Add onion + capsicum + carrot + coriander + ginger + chilli  .

Mix well making sure everything is well combined.

Now add baking soda and mix well until you get the light and fluffy batter.

Heat a tava .

When the pan turns hot, pour a ladle full of the uttapam batter

Spread it evenly and gently. Don’t spread too much.It has to be thick.

After few seconds , drizzle  little ghee around the edges and on top of the uttapam.

Cook for a minute or until the base is cooked well.

Flip over and cook on other side.

Once do ne remove and serve hot

Enjoy instant rava uttapam with tomato sauce or coconut chutney.

NOTES

  1. Adjust ingredients as per your choice .
  2. Bater should bot be very thick or very thin.
  3. Instead of adding veges to batter , you can top it on the uttapam
