RAW BANANA AND YAM STIR FRY RECIPE

SOUTHINDIAN STYLE YAM AND RAW BANANA STIR FRY / SURAN AUR KELE KI SABJI / RAW BANANA AND YAM THORAN RECIPE 

INGREDIENTS

  • Yam / suran peeled and chopped in small cubes – 1 cup
  • Raw banana peeled and chopped into small cubes – 1 cup
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Freshly grated coconut ½ cup
  • Jeera – ¾ tsp
  • Turmeric – ¼ tsp
  • Chilli pwdr – 1 tsp or as per taste
  • Garlic – 2 or 3
  • Mustard seeds – ¾ tsp
  • Red chilli broken – 1
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves few

PREPARATION

  1. Peel the skin of the raw banana + yam and chop them into small cubes .
  2. Wash it well and soak it in water till use.
  3. Take the veges + water + little turmeric + salt in a pan .
  4. Boil and cook the veges till soft . Don’t overcook till mushy .
  5. Blend the coconut + red chilli pwdr + turmeric + jeera  to a coarse mixture and keep aside.

METHOD

Heat oil in a pan .

Crackle mustard seeds + curry leaves + red chilli  .

Drain and add yam + raw banana and mix well .

Adjust salt if needed .

Stir fry for a min .

Once done add the coconut

Add the coconut mixture and mix well .

 Stir fry for a min and off the flame.

Serve as a side dish with rice + curry .
