TOOR MASOOR DAL FRY

INGREDIENTS

  • Toor dal – ½  cup
  • Masoor dal OR moong dal– ¼ cup
  • Onion finely chopped – 1 big
  • Curry leaves – 1 sprig
  • Green chilli – 1
  • Tomato puree – 3
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Butter – 1 tbsp
  • Methi dana – ½ tsp
  • Mustard seeds – ½ tsp
  • Jeera – ½ tsp
  • Garlic chopped – 10
  • Turmeric – ¼ tsp + ¼ tsp
  • Chilli pwdr – 2 tsp or as per taste
  • Coriander pwdr – 1 tsp
  • Kitchen king masala – ¼ tsp
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves for garnish
  • Salt to taste

METHOD

Take both the dals , wash and rinse it.

Add enough water + salt + turmeric in a cooker and bring to a boil .

Add the washed dals and pressure cook upto 1 whistle . Don’t over cook till mushy – the dal should be sift but whole in shape .

Immediately open the cooker .

NOTE –  No need to soak the dal , to get the right consistency shown here .

Heat oil + butter in a pan.

Add methi dana + jeera + rai and let them crackle.

Lower the flame and add garlic and stir fry for a min .

Add curry leaves + green chilli + onion and stir fry till light brown .

Add red chilli pwdr + turmeric + coriander pwdr + kitchen king masala and stir fry for few seconds.

Add tomato puree + salt and mix well.

Stir and cook till oil separates .

Add boiled dal and mix well.

Adjust hot water as per the consistency you want .

Bring to a boil and simmer for a min .

Off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves.

Serve hot with rice or chapati .
