                                                                             MASOOR DAL RECIPE

INGREDIENTS

  • Masoor dal /red lentils – 1/2 cup
  • Onion – 1 finely chopped
  • Tomato – 1 finely chopped
  • Red chilli pwdr – ½ tsp or as per taste
  • Turmeric pwdr – ¼ tsp
  • Green chilli – 1 chopped
  • ginger garlic paste – 1 tsp
  • kitchen king masala pwdr – 3/4 tsp
  • Curry leaves – few
  • Jeera – ½ tsp
  • Oil + ghee – 1 tbsp
  • Asafoetida – a pinch
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves

PREPARATION

  1. Clean ,wash and soak the dal for 15 mins. More the soaking time less the cooking time.

METHOD

Heat oil + ghee in a pan .

Add jeera and let it crackle.

Add onion + curry leaves + green chilli + asafoetida and stir fry till translucent .

Add the tomato and fry till oil separates.

Add chilli pwdr + turmeric pwdr + kitchen king masala and fry till raw smell leaves.

Add the soaked dal and mix well. Stir fry for a min .

Add 2 cup water  + salt , cover and cook till the dal softens. [water has to be added as per the consistency you want]

Once done off the flame and garnish with coriander leaves.

NOTES

You can also add kasoori methi towards the end.

you can avoid kitchen king masala and make it plain .

I did not over cook the dal.

Instead of watery , you can also make it dry.

You can also add finely chopped palak.
