 SWEET BANANA FRITTERS / PAZHAM PORI

INGREDIENTS

  • Kerala banana – 2 fully ripen
  • Maida / wheat flour or take a combination of both flours – 1 cup
  • Rice flour – 2 tbsp
  • Black sesame seeds – 1 tsp
  • Cardamom powder – 1/2 tsp [ optional ]
  • Baking soda – a generous pinch of baking soda [ optional ]
  • Turmeric pwdr – a generous pinch [ optional ] or we can add yellow food colour
  • Sugar powder – 2 or 3 tbsp or as per taste or depends on the sweetness of the banana.
  • Salt – a pinch
  • Oil to deep fry

NOTE – dont add excess baking soda. Sometimes baking soda reacts with turmeric and make sthe batter red . So be careful .

METHOD

Mix the flour + sugar + baking pwdr + turmeric pwdr + sesame seeds + cardamom pwdr well.

Gradually add water and make a smooth semi thick batter. The batter must be thick with the consistency of a pancake batter.

Peel the banana and slice it as per your wish .

Heat oil .

Dip each slice of banana well in the batter .[ should be coated evenly ]

When the oil is hot ,slide the coated banana slice into the oil .

Fry it by flipping till both sides are golden colour on medium flame .[ don’t burn it ]

Remove on a absorbent paper.

Serve hot as a snack.

Notes

  1. You can add a generous pinch of crushed cumim seeds.
  2. If batter remains then dip bread slices and fry to make bread fritters.
